On a sunny, bright Sunday, World no. 3 Suzann Pettersen followed her course-record 63 by almost equalling that record with a superb 64 to win the Irish Ladies Open, supported by Fáilte Ireland for a second time.
She finished on a fabulous final total of 18 under par to win by six strokes from second placed Azahara Munoz of Spain. After a solid first round of 71, Pettersen went into overdrive in rounds 2 and 3 with rounds of 63 and 64 respectively.
The golf course looked spectacular and with around 20,000 spectators lining the fairways, the atmosphere was truly electric. We look forward to next year when the best ladies in Europe will grace our course for the 2012 ladies Irish Open.
